Terms of Service
The agreement between you and the operator of Marquee.
This is a baseline document. Replace the bracketed placeholders
([Company], [Jurisdiction], [support@…],
[$X]) and have legal counsel review it before launch.
The agreement
By creating an account or using Marquee (the "service"), you agree to these
terms with [Company] ("we," "us"). If you don't agree, please
don't use the service.
Your account
- You're responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your
password safe.
- One account per person. Don't share your login.
- You must be 13 or older to use Marquee.
- Display names and household names must not contain markup or impersonate
others. We may refuse or remove abusive names.
Acceptable use
- Don't attempt to break in, scrape at scale, or abuse the AI or third-party
APIs that power recommendations.
- Don't use the service to harass other users or to share unlawful content.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Subscriptions, billing, and auto-renewal
- The paid Household plan is an auto-renewing
subscription. Your card is charged at the start of each billing
period (monthly, unless otherwise stated) at the price shown at checkout
(currently [$X / month], plus any applicable tax).
- The subscription renews automatically until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from Account → Manage /
cancel billing (Stripe Customer Portal on the web; the App Store in iOS
once that channel ships). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current
paid period; you keep access until that date.
- Refunds: we generally do not offer pro-rated refunds for
partial periods. If something is wrong with the service, contact
[support@yourdomain.example]
and we'll do the right thing on a case-by-case basis. Statutory refund rights
in your jurisdiction (e.g. EU 14-day right of withdrawal) are unaffected.
- Failed payment: if a renewal charge fails, Stripe will retry.
If retries are exhausted your subscription will be cancelled and your account
reverts to the free tier.
- Price changes: if we change the price we will notify
registered subscribers by email at least 30 days before the change takes
effect; you can cancel before that date if you don't agree.
- Apple In-App Purchase (when the iOS app ships) is governed
by Apple's Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions in addition to
these terms; manage and cancel Apple-billed subscriptions in iOS Settings →
Apple ID → Subscriptions.
What you get on the paid plan
The Household plan unlocks movie night for 3–6 people (group recommendations,
group history, group want-list, and related features), in addition to all the
free functionality. We may add features, but we don't guarantee any specific
feature will remain available forever.
Content from third parties
Movie metadata, posters, and streaming-availability information come from The
Movie Database (TMDB) and are subject to TMDB's terms. We make no warranty as to
the accuracy of streaming availability or any other third-party data.
AI recommendations
"Smart picks" are generated by an AI re-ranker (running on Cloudflare Workers
AI). AI output can be wrong; treat recommendations as suggestions, not authoritative
endorsements.
Service availability
We aim to keep Marquee running, but the service is provided "as is" without
warranty. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We are not
liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, to the maximum extent
permitted by law.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time (Account → Delete account); this
cancels any active subscription immediately. We may terminate accounts that
violate these terms, with notice where reasonably practical.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the most recent version is always at this URL. If
the changes are material we will notify you via email or in-app.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction].
